“Because I love you,
I cannot believe in love.”
He’d asked me to leave
That final fall night.
I should’ve asked him what didn’t feel right,
I should’ve asked him if I could stay
But I knew my answers.
(Somehow, someway)
He was a big, big thing
That I wanted to crawl inside-
Cocoon, and become as beautiful as
His sun dried
S’pose it was impossible to see
There was no imposter in
Not when I was whatever he wanted me to be.
He made me better.
How sick is that?
To not know, what you wish always had-
But to know it now,
A tad too late.
